ACAM Spring 2013 Summit
John, Katie and myself just returned from the American College For Advancement In Medicine (ACAM) Spring 2013 Summit entitled “Mitochondria in Health and Disease: A Clinician’s Guide to Diagnosis and Treatment.
This conference was attended by physicians and other healthcare practitioners from 29 different countries and was a real eye opener as to the role mitochondria play in many common chronic disease states that is not currently known to most physicians.
Included in the list of chronic disease were Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Bipolar disorder, Autism, Immune System Disorders and Cancer just to name a few. I think what amazed me the most was some of the simple, non-toxic treatments that are readily available yet rarely used as front-line therapy, if used at all.
Some of treatments that were talked about included alpha lipoic acid, glutathione, co enzyme q-10, deoxy-2-glucose and low dose naltrexone to name a few, all of which are items we compound here in the pharmacy.
