Systemic Inflammation, IL-6, and What Makes it Better/Worse
Working with a group of researchers and practitioners across the country, we have learned a lot about what can be exacerbating inflammation. Many people have wide spread inflammation, and can not figure out what is driving this wide spread inflammation.
Research has shown that genetics, nutrition and exposure to toxins are a few of the many things that can promote inflammation.
Research Behind IL-6 Pathway & Cytokines
A lot of research into the IL-6 pathway and cytokines has occured since the Covid pandemic hit. There has been a lot of research into the Cytokine Storm, what causes it and what we can do to lower the cytokine levels which are responsible for many severe cases of Covid.
With genetic testing a good history and labs, researchers have determined that there are many things that can cause IL-6 and inflammatory cytokines to be released in high levels causing systemic inflammation.
Il-6 and inflammatory cytokines are important to fight infections, help with injuries and promote healing. The problems arise when they do not stop being released when they are no longer needed, or are being released in too high amounts.
There are many things that can over stimulate IL-6 and cytokine release:
- High Blood Sugar
- Super Oxide
- Mast cell imbalances
- Histamine
- Dopamine
- Testosterone
- Mold/Mycotoxins
- Lyme Disease
- EMF radiation
- Smoking
- Lead, Mercury, Aluminum
- Gyphosate
- Omega 6’s
- Pesticides
- Angiotensin II
- Nox (NADPH Oxidase)
- Obesity
- High Homocysteine
- Oxalates
- Estriol (estrogen)
- Hydrogen Peroxide
- Over exerdising
- Anxiety
- Glutamate
Below is a short video that helps explain the metabolic pathways that can either help or cause issues with IL-6 and inflammation.
