Mom’s are truly AMAZING! And Mother’s Day is a great way to show all the moms in our lives how much we love and appreciate them.
Here are a few fun facts about women/moms that you might find interesting!
– The first Mother’s Day was held on May 10, 1908, and was organized by Anna Jarvis in West Virginia and Philadelphia. As the event gained popularity throughout the country, Congress designated the second Sunday in May as a national day of recognition for mothers in 1914.
-In its early days, people observed Mother’s Day by going to church and writing letters to their mothers. Eventually, sending cards and giving gifts and flowers were added to the tradition.
– 50 Countries around the world celebrate Mother’s Day – India celebrates Mother’s Day in October…for 10 Days!
-Women live longer than men – Seven years longer than men, on average.
– In the United States alone, around 122 million phone calls are made to moms on Mother’s Day and approximately $14 billion dollars is spent on Mother’s Day. (Moms deserve it!)
