Starting from the moment of birth, the human brain begins the process of development. The brain multiplies in cells, forms connections known as synapses, and strengthens during this time. The network of synapses that are built during this time is what constructs the complexity of human functioning. By the mid 20’s the human brain is fully developed. From that point onward, there is a slow decline in the brains volume and vascularization. This decline in volume and vascularization leads to the decline in functions such as memory, reflexes, verbal-fluency, and decision-making. Though it is normal for the brain to change as you age, it is possible by playing an active role in your own neuronal health to slow the negative effects of cognitive decline. There is evidence emerging showing that there does not have to be an inevitable decline in our mental health as we age. There are many things that we can do to retain some of the same mental sharpness that we had when we were younger. Synapsin® is an innovative new product available by prescription designed and demonstrated to support neurological and cognitive health.
What is Synapsin®?
Synapsin® is a patent-pending powder blend of nicotinamide riboside and ginsenoside Rg3 along with ingredients to aid in solubilization and dispersion. It can be compounded into a nasal spray for easy daily administration. Synapsin® was designed to be used in dietary supplement formulations for the support of neurological and cognitive health.
Nicotinamide Riboside is a form of vitamin B3 found in cow’s milk. Laboratory studies report that the administration of nicotinamide riboside supports healthy levels of NAD+ in yeast and cultured human and mammalian cells. Increased NAD+ levels has been reported to be both supportive and neuroprotective.
Ginsenoside Rg3 is one of several ginsenosides found in the plant genus Panax. Laboratory studies have shown that Rg3 helps to support neuroprotection, healthy microglial activity, and healthy neuronal function.
What has Synapsin® shown benefits in?
- Parkinson’s
- Alzheimer’s
- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- ADHD
- Stress
- Diabetes
- Stroke/TIA
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Post-Concussion Syndrome
Who can use Synapsin®?
Synapsin® having benefits in both neurological and cognitive health would benefit greatly in everyone. Its use however may be more favorable and advantageous for certain patient populations. There is typically an indirect relationship with age and mental health because as we age our mental health tends to decline. Synapsin® can be extremely beneficial for cognitive improvement in aging individuals. Synapsin® is also beneficial in individuals suffering from neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS. The use of Synapsin® can be beneficial in slowing the development of neurodegenerative diseases which comes about with age. Another patient population that may benefit from the use of Synapsin® would be those suffering from brain injuries. Brain injuries can include but are not limited to mentally damaging experiences such as concussions, motor vehicle accidents, post-traumatic stress disorders, stroke, and transient ischemic attacks.
