Understanding what PCAB accreditation is

Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB) offers the most comprehensive compliance solution in the industry, with standards based on U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) guidelines.  At Johnson Compounding & Wellness we are proud to say we were Massachusetts’ first sterile and non-sterile PCAB accredited pharmacy, and we have been since 2007.  We have continued to maintain the accreditation each year, thereafter. It confirms our commitment to providing safe, personalized solutions that meet the medical needs of our community.

What does that mean exactly?  It means that routinely we have passed on-site inspections/surveys from an independent expert.  After inspection, there is a verification process that ensures compliance with the non-sterile and sterile pharmacy compounding process defined by USP <795> and USP <797>.
Who Benefits from using a PCAB compounding pharmacy:

  • Patients are assured of receiving high-quality medications that meet regulatory requirements.
  • Physicians are assured that their patients are receiving what they ordered each and every time.

After the recent PCAB  annual inspection we are proud to say that we have passed.  Janelle Pasqualleni, Director of Quality Assurance, is pleased with the recent results of the PCAB inspection.  “Achieving our 4th consecutive PCAB accreditation is a testament to the dedication of our staff and to our organization’s commitment to quality. We are extremely proud of everyone here at Johnson Compounding and Wellness. Compounding pharmacies must remain change positive to keep up with the fast-passed, dynamic regulatory environment. It’s our staff’s daily effort and willingness to implement and embrace improvement initiatives that has allowed us to excel beyond fluidity within a changing regulatory environment to maintaining our PCAB accreditation, the highest standards of excellence within the compounding space.”
